AGING WELL FROM A MENTAL HEALTH PERSPECTIVE

Event Description: Join the Senior Advocate Network Group (SANG) on Wednesday, February 8 in the Northern Neck (RGH Rehabiliation and Sports Medicine Center, 43 William B. Graham Ct., Kilmarnock, VA.)
Breakfast/Networking is from 8:30 - 9:00 AM and the meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. In case you have not attended a previous SANG meeting, this is a great way to find out about local senior health care services. The fee is $10.00, cash or check only, and includes a full breakfast.

CHCF Community Educational Series

Event Description: The Colonial Heritage Community Foundation Presents, "Brain Fitness for Healthy Aging," by Scott Sautter, Ph.D., FACPN.
Topcis included in this afternoon workshop are:
- How the brain works, effects behavior and emotions, creativity;
- What illnesses or disease may affect the brain; and,
- Ways to maintain brain fitness.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Colonial Heritage Club, 6500 Arthur Hills Dr., Williamsburg, VA 23188.

Clergy Event at The Chamberlin

Event Description: Senior Advocate, in partnership with The Chamberlin, will be hosting a half-day educational event for clergy and laypersons from churches in Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Tabb. The format of the event will be a panel forum of professionals who will present information about senior services available on the Peninsula. Breakfast and a boxed lunch are included and each church will have a chance to win a $500.00 donation. Email

Peninsula Task Force on Aging at Riverside Rehabilitation Institute

Event Description: The Peninsula Task Force on Aging, PenTFA, is a non-profit group of professionals who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors in our community. PenTFA was established to serve as a forum to share information, to promote inter-agency understanding, and to work together as advocates, educators and legislative activists to address the issues of older adults.
PenTFA meets the fourth Thursday of the month in various locations throughout the Peninsula. Membership is $25.00 per year.
February's meeting will take place at Riverside Rehabilitation Institute, 245 Chesapeake Ave., Newport News.
